Activites and Workshops

Our older campers will enjoy intensified programs—workshops that last an entire week, culminating in a special event or final product. These week-long workshops will allow campers to become immersed in a substantial project and learn by doing.

Puppetry & Movie Making

weinerville.jpgThe comedic genius of Marc Weiner, of Weinerville (Nickelodeon) and Saturday Night Live fame, will be put to good use with campers over the first week. They will create puppets, voices, and a story line fortheir own shows. The final performance will be filmed. Outdoor Survival Skillshiker.jpg

Live like a pioneer, and use the land to guide your way. The Lost Art Workshops will teach outdoor and survival skills this week. Campers will: Make a survival bracelet from plant fibers, make a small hammer using stone, wood and real rawhide, learn how to use a map and compass during a field trip to a park, learn how to start a camp fire without matches, and learn how to safely whittle a wooden spoon.

Campers will spend two weeks building their own sound-activated Rockit Robot. This  robot will amaze you with the things it can do. It will move by the sound of your voice or clapping hands, and will go into reverse when it touches something. See the future of our world, with your Rockit Robot, and other robots you work on this week.

Circus Friday

circus-tent.gifYou won’t have to run away to get your chance in the circus. It’s all yours for one week at Gan Izzy ’09. With professional circus trainers, campers will learn human pyramids, tight wire, Chinese yo-yo (diabolo), devil sticks, juggling, and much more.
